National Cybersecurity Awareness

Held every October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. This year’s overarching message – Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT. – will focus on key areas including citizen privacy, consumer devices, and eCommerce security.

NICCS Trivia Game

The National Institute for Careers & Cybersecurity Studies has a Jeopardy-style Trivia game to play that will test your cybersecurity knowledge. This trivia-style game is a great opportunity to engage with others about important cybersecurity topics.

Cyber Patriot

CyberPatriot the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future.

Packet Protector Module

Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative  The CyberPatriot Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative (ESCEI) is a set of three fun, interactive learning modules aimed at increasing grade K-6 students’ awareness of online safety and cybersecurity principles. Supplemental activities are also available to get students collaborating with each other about their newly learned cyber skills!

Cyber Generations   The program is designed to have an instructor present the CyberGenerations curriculum to a community of senior citizens attending the workshop. The program was designed to be given over five 1-hour sessions with the initial session being an introduction of cybersecurity with four subsequent meetings where individual modules will be presented and discussed.

NICE Conference

Join NICE on December 9-10 in California as they “expand the national effort to promote and increase the K12 cybersecurity education programs on-going throughout the country, and address how K12 education is uniquely positioned to accelerate learning.”

SANS Cyber Aces is a SANS’ philanthropic initiative to help individuals discover and develop skills and careers in cybersecurity. GenCyber Teacher Camp Resources – The University of Tulsa’s list of lesson plans, units, activities, and resources for educators.

CERIAS Lesson Plans and Presentations – Purdue University’s Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) has gathered and organized an excellent list of lesson plans for educators. The categories of lesson plans include lesson plans for all grade levels, lesson plans for K-5, and lesson plans for 6-12.

Free Resources for Teaching Students Cyber Security – Orion Technologies provides an “ultimate list” of resources for teachers, divided into groups: teachers, administrators, younger kids, pre-teen and middle school kids, and older kids.

Bits N’ Bytes Cybersecurity Education partnered with CyberSensibility, a national nonprofit working to reduce Cyberbullying and promote health through education, developed open-source, unplugged Cybersecurity education curriculum.
