The ukulele craze continues at Bud Werner Memorial Library with their Heart Strings & Community Uke Jam, Sept. 18 at 6:30 pm. In celebration of Steamboat’s new Lost Art Revival festival, the library will be screening a short ukulele documentary followed by a community jam session. Check out an instrument from the library if you don’t have your own.
Lafayette Public Library is hosting a Geeky Cross-Stitch class just for teens. Join them on Sept. 17 at 11:00 am to learn how to cross-stitch and get started on a geeky design. Stitchers of all levels are welcome.
Let High Plains Library District help you expand your pressure cooking repertoire. Join them at Centennial Park Library on Sept. 20 from 6:30 to 8:00 for Instant Pot 101 to learn techniques you can use with any electric pressure cooker.
Jefferson County Public Library is inviting teens to celebrate the freedom to read by creating wearable fashion inspired by challenged books. Belmar’s Banned Book Teen Fashion Show is Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Lakewood Cultural Center.

Bring your library-related questions and enjoy some Donuts and Dialogue with Clearview Library District Director Ann Kling, Sept. 29 from 8:30 to 10:30 am.
Longmont Public Library recently added Wellbeing Bags to their existing Experience Bags collection. The library teamed up with Supporting Action for Mental Health to create two bags, one for adults and one for families, containing books, dvds, and other materials meant to spark important and sometimes difficult conversations about mental health issues.
Cultural Gatherings
Join Basalt Regional Library for an artist reception and talk by Laura Roberts, Sept. 14 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Ms. Roberts creates artwork from found and vintage objects, such as historic dresses. The reception coincides with Basalt’s 2nd Friday ArtWalk.
History Comes Alive at Poudre River Public Library District, Sept. 14 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Author and storyteller John Stansfield will perform a tale of conservationist and mountaineer Enos Mills, famous for his role in the creation of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Regis University is hosting an exhibit featuring a facsimile of the 1454 Gutenberg Bible, as well as examples of earlier bookmaking. Visit the Archives on the 4th floor of Dayton Memorial Library, Tues – Fri, 7:30-4:30.
The Zee Jaipur Literature Festival returns to Boulder Public Library September 21-23. The festival “examines the human experience through the reflections and imaginations of distinguished authors, thinkers and artists from across the globe.” Attendance is free, but registration is required. Poudre River Public Library District will host a visit from Newbery Medal winning author Matt de la Peña on September 14 at 6:30 pm. His program, My Journey from Reluctant Reader to Author, will recount his education and affirm the power of reading. Doors to the Block One Event Center will open at 6:00 pm; admission is free but seats are limited.
