Make, Create, Grow!

Estes Valley Library is hosting a launch party for their new Makerspace, January 29 at 4:30 pm. In addition to touring the space and playing with new technology, attendees can take apart older technology—computers, circuit boards, telephones, etc.—to explore their inner workings. Register online.

Explore the maker tools available at Louisville Public Library during their Maker Expo Open House: Recycle & Upcycle, January 27 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Learn how to turn everyday items into useful projects for your home.

Learn to use Inkscape to make vector graphics that you can use for logos, flyers, posters, and other design projects. Ignacio Community Library is offering Graphic Design: Vector Graphics on February 12 at 4:00 pm.

Back by popular demand! Learn to Use Your Sewing Machine returns to Summit County Library’s South Branch on February 10 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Registered participants should bring their sewing machine to the class.

Adams State University’s Nielsen Library is holding Seed to Seed, a community seed exchange, on January 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Bring seeds to share or donate to the seed library. Thanks to Mary Walsh for sharing this event!

Pick ‘n’ Mix

CSU professor Dr. Dawn Grapes hosts Composer Talk, a lunchtime series about musical composers, at Poudre River Public Library District. Join her for the next program in the series—Beaks, Tweaks, & Shrieks—on January 31 at the Old Town Library.

Broomfield Library’s Parent Toddler Workshop is a 5-week program where children can sing, dance, play, and craft, and parents can talk to community resource professionals about early literacy, speech and hearing, physical fitness, nutrition, and behavior. The program will be every Friday from February 2 through March 2.

No need jump hurdles to participate in Basalt Regional Library’s Candy Olympics. Tweens and teens in grades 5+ can celebrate the 2018 Olympics with their own “sweet” competition, February 7 at 3:00 pm.

Are you ready to tackle your first 14er this summer? Join Nick Gianoutsos and Bent Gate for Hiking Colorado’s 14ers at Belmar Library on February 22 to learn how to plan for your mountain trek, including what to bring and how to stay safe.
