The 2018-2019 school year is at an end and for most Colorado educators, this is the last day or last week with students. The Learning Edge will be taking a ‘break’ too – returning in a few months for the 2019-2020 school year.  Pat your self on the back, high-five a colleague, and congratulate each other on another year well done for students!

CCIRA Proposals Due June 15th

The annual CCIRA conference offers a high-quality professional development experience for attendees. CCIRA sessions promote best practices and current research in the field of literacy. CCIRA appreciates your willingness to share your expertise with conference participants. Submit your presentation proposals by June 15th at CCIRA2020.


Geek Camp 2019 – Two locations!

Geek Camp was created in 2011. Each year Geek Camp evolves but the core purpose remains the same: support fellow teachers so we can make education better for everyone. Colorado School of Mines  C-START Computer Science Summer PD Workshop

CSTART program has scholarships for teachers who want to learn how to teach computer science! The following courses  are being offered for all levels of teaching expertise:

  • Snap!,  June 18-20th
  • Web Programming, June 11-13th
  • Intro to Cryptography, June 24-27th
  • Java, June 17-21st
  • Python, July 15-17th
  • Bootstrap Algebra, July 22-26
  • Bootstrap Data Science, July 22-26
  • Mobile CSP, July 22-26

Free lunches/snacks/parking. Some courses coincide with Mines kids camps – bring your kids. A full year of instructional support. CS-FAST Colorado School of Mines

CS-FAST is a curriculum developed specifically for Colorado elementary school teachers that offers a Fundamental Approach to Standards Training (FAST). This 1-day elementary school teacher training is being offered for free by Colorado School of Mines, thanks to a collaboration with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Visit CS-FAST to find out when these trainings are taking place.  Participating teachers also have the opportunity to receive a stipend (up to $250) from CDE.
