Recently, a teacher shared that he was virtually reading, Wayside School Beneath the Cloud of Doom by Louis Sachar to his students and came across the following passage:  “Someday, the Cloud of Doom will be gone, and the world will be a much better place, even better than before the Cloud. Colors will be more colorful. Music will be more musical. Even Miss Mush’s food will taste good. The bigger the storm, the brighter the rainbow.” The teacher and students stopped to talk about what this means to them amidst today’s events.   What a teaching moment brought forth through reading! Thank you, Louis Sachar – keep your wisdom coming to us through your amazing and meaningful writing. Thanks to Brandon for sharing your story!

Happy Birthday, LOC!

This month, the Library of Congress (LOC) in celebration of the 220th anniversary of its founding, launched the LOC Collections app that provides access to their digital collections. Users can currently find the app for iPhone and iPad at the Library’s website or the iTunes store. An Android version of the app will be released later in 2020. Check for more LOC apps at LOC Mobile.

FETC 2021

FETC is moving forward with conference planning for January 26-29, 2021. You can submit a proposal to share your knowledge at FETC 2021

Rock CS Date Update

Rock CS, Rocky Mountain Computer Science Conference for P-12 Educators, has moved the conference date to November 14th – 15th, 2020.  This two-day event, designed by Adams 12 Five Star Schools & St. Vrain Valley School District,  supports P-12 classroom teachers with teaching computer science (CS) and computational thinking.
