The Colorado Historic Newspaper Collection is happy to announce that we are now part of Elephind.  Elephind.com brings together many of

the world’s online historic newspapers into one free search engine.  By searching in Elephind you can simultaneously search newspaper sites from Colorado to Australia, rather than individually searching each site.  “The goal of Elephind.com is to make it possible to search all the world’s online historic newspapers from one place.”  Once you click on a search result in Elephind you will be taken directly to the historic newspaper site that holds that article.

Currently Elephind includes 149 million searchable items from more than 2,700 historical newspaper titles in Australia, New Zealand and across the United States.  The searchable items are constantly growing.  In November Elephind began harvesting content from CHNC: with 169 publications, 129,759 issues and 10+ million searchable items now available and the remainder scheduled to be available in December.

CHNC is excited to be part of Elephind and to grow our audience.  A service of the Colorado State Library, CHNC currently includes more than 880,000 digitized pages, representing 199+ individual newspaper titles published in Colorado.  Like Elephind we are constantly growing.  So please check back often and happy searching!
