Spotlight on Sharing Webcast: Memory Care at the Library

The number of Americans living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other forms of memory loss is on the rise. The Alzheimer’s Association reports that 5.4 million people currently have Alzheimer’s, and by 2050 that number is expected to reach at least 13.8 million. (Source: Alzheimer’s Association Fact and Figures 2016)

Several libraries in Colorado have already begun offering programming to support this growing population, and they are happy to share their knowledge with the library community. I recently spoke with two librarians who have developed memory care programming: Amy DelPo from Denver Public Library and Deb Gonzales from Arapahoe Libraries. Our discussion took place during a Spotlight on Sharing Webcast, which was broadcast live on January 25, 2017.
