Libraries in the Media

The Community Project, a TV/web show from High Five Access Media in Eagle County, will broadcast live from the Avon Public Library on Friday, May 26 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. Topics will include the summer library program and local music. Community members are invited to attend the live production.

Anythink was recently honored by the Society of Professional Journalists with three awards for their magazine, SPARK. The quarterly publication is available online and in print. Read more about the awards.

To the Library…and Beyond!

On May 6 from 2:00 to 3:30, Broomfield Library is hosting astronomer Victoria Sahami, who will talk about the solar eclipse happening August 21. She will give tips for viewing and explain the science behind eclipses. Register online.

Space!, a program from the Clearview Library District, gives kids ages 2-5 the opportunity to have an interstellar adventure. Join the event at the Severance Town Hall on Thursday, May 11 from 10:30-11:00 am. No registration is required.

During the week of May 7-13, teens and adults in Summit County are invited to stop by the library and try out the new green screen technology. Take pictures in front of different backgrounds, then share the digital pics with family and friends.

Art in the Community

Visit Lafayette Public Library’s booth at Lafayette’s Art Night Out on May 12. They will have a giant Connect 4, crafts, and other fun surprises for kids and families.

Each month, John C. Fremont Library District features a new artist from their community. May’s featured artist is Luke Chisholm, a Cañon City High School senior. The library will display Luke’s photographs and woodblock prints throughout the month of May. Visit the library and meet Luke during an artist reception on May 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Several CSL staff members attended the 48th annual Colorado ILL Conference in Breckenridge on May 4 & 5. This event is one of only a few national conferences dedicated to supporting interlibrary loan staff. This year’s keynote speaker is former Colorado State Senator Mike Johnston.

This resource, brought to you by the Colorado State Library, is a portal to library continuing education opportunities and information.
