Durango’s San Juan Angler fly fishing shop is hosting a FREE Fly Fishing 101 class at the Pine River Library on July 24 from 10:00-11:30 am. The mission is to introduce as many people as possible of any age and gender to the sport of fly fishing. Come learn the basics of setting up a fly rod and beginner casting skills. We’ll also talk a little about entomology (bugs). The San Juan Angler’s talented guides will provide all the gear, equipment, and tackle needed for the class. If you have your own rod and would like to practice with it, please bring it along!
All ages are invited to bring blankets and hats, and join Lafayette Public Library outside on the North Lawn on July 31 at 11:00 am for a Jeff and Paige Concert Outside! Join the beloved local award-winning duo for an interactive, joyful, nature-focused performance where you’ll dance, sing, and play in celebration of a summer of reading.
Families with children of all ages are invited to celebrate their Summer Reading success with Mesa County Libraries with Summer Reading Chalk the Block parties throughout the month of July at various branches. Chalk prompts will be available to get your creativity flowing. Attendees will also enjoy music, snacks, giant games, and take home their own sidewalk chalk courtesy of Rocky Mountain Promotional Products to encourage them to continue their artistic endeavors at home.

Ethics is defined as “the body of moral principles or values governing, or distinctive of, a particular culture or group.” While many people have personal ethics that impact their daily behavior, there are also ethics in workplaces and professions, including libraries. This webinar will introduce the fundamental ethical principles of the library profession, including professional ethics, intellectual freedom, and the importance of policies and procedures.

Indigenous Enslavement in Southern Colorado installation opens | Valley Courier
A new installation incorporating historic photos of Indigenous captives and images from an 1865 census of enslaved Indigenous people in present-day Conejos and Costilla Counties is now on view at History Colorado’s Fort Garland Museum and Cultural Center.

Denver Public Library is accepting name recommendations for the Byers Branch – Denver, Colorado | Eminetra
The Denver Public Library is currently in the process to rename the Byers Branch Library, and they are looking for recommendations from the community. The submission deadline is Sunday, July 25 at midnight, and guidelines can instructions can be found HERE.
Pick ‘n’ Mix
Arapahoe Libraries and performance artist Yasu Ishida bring Magical Japanese Folktales to life on July 20 from 1:00-2:00 pm with a combination of traditional Japanese theatre, music, origami, magic and storytelling. For children ages 5-12 and families. Registration required. Click HERE to register.
Join Garfield County Libraries on July 19 at 3:30 pm for Adventures of the Wild Wolf by Didgeridoo Down Under. Children’s author Tanya Gerard and her husband, Rob Thomas, have raised wolves and wolf-dog hybrids as pets for almost 20 years. Their pets – and their love of nature and storytelling. Tanya and Rob will read and act out passages from her book as well as show photos and captivating videos of their wolves and wolf-dog hybrids.
Boulder Public Library presents SuperSHEro Show on July 27 from 3:00-3:45 pm. In this fun and interactive magic show, Erica Sodos plays a SuperSHEro whose mission is to spread magic and inspire people wherever she flies. The SuperSHEro shares magical tales, performs captivating magic and teaches people about the superpowers that live inside each and every one of us…..
