Dog Days
Dogs aren’t just great pets, they’re also amazing workers! There are therapy dogs, service dogs, and Avalanche Rescue Dogs. Join Vail Public Library on August 14 at 1:30 pm to learn how the Vail Avalanche Dogs put their canine senses to work and enjoy light refreshments and music.
Teens and Tweens – get ready to celebrate “Spoil Your Dog Day” and “National Cat Day” by making DIY Dog and Cat Treats with Pikes Peak Library District on August 20 from 4:00 5:30 pm. Materials and supplies provided. Registration Required.
All ages are invited to join the Broomfield Depot Museum for Dog Days of Summer on August 10 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Spend the day with your furry, four-legged friend learning about local history and enjoying treats from Ivan’s All Natural Doggie Delights Food Truck for Dogs. There will be a good dog contest, Shep look-a-like contest, opportunities to pamper your pet, and more. Attendants under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Bringing a new dog into your household can be as overwhelming as it is exciting. Learn how to teach the most important skills to get your dog or puppy off to a great start at Clearview Library District’s Training Your New Dog or Puppy class on August 13 at 6:00 pm. This class will be taught by Mary Babbitt, Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Certified Fear Free Trainer. No registration required. Please note that this class is for humans only.
Call for Artists
Boulder Public Library is seeking applicants for 2020 exhibitions held in Canyon Gallery and other library exhibition spaces. The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, Aug. 31. The exhibitions should feature a diverse visual display, socially engaging art, live programs, interactivity and collaborative happenings. Proposals for projects should range from a few weeks to two months. For more information and to submit an application, visit the exhibition webpage.
Mesa County Libraries’ annual Culture Fest is coming up in November and features a Juried Art Show! This exhibition is competitive and open to artists 18 or older residing in Mesa County. Entries must be received online by 8:00 pm on September 30. For more information on eligibility and submission guidelines, click HERE.

Lots of libraries around the state offer Adventure/Museum/Exploration passes to library card holders, which is just another perk of being a member of your local library. For example, anyone with a valid Westminster Public Library card can reserve an Adventure Pass, which provides free access to explore cultural and recreational attractions in the community like the WOW! Children’s Museum, Westminster Recreation Centers, Denver Botanic Gardens, and much more.
Go behind the scenes with your Denver Public Library card! Library card holders can get passes for Denver Center for the Performing Arts Behind the Scenes Tours. The expertly guided tours are 90 minutes long and take visitors beyond the stage to explore costume shops, design studios, and the Denver Performing Arts Complex venues. Tours take place every Monday and Saturday at 10:00 am. Admission is valid for a party of up to four, recommended for kids 6 and up.

Poudre River Library District members can get discounts at area business through the Flash Your Card program. Just flash your Poudre Public Library District card at one of these participating Library partner businesses and receive a discount on goods and services. Limit one discount, per person, per visit, per library card.
Through Douglas County Library’s DCL Local program, card holders can receive special offers of Food & Drink, Shopping & Services, and Classes & Experiences from participating merchants. Reader, it may be time to take that karate class!
Mesa County Libraries card holders are eligible for a variety of discounts at participating businesses thanks to Library Deals – Flash Your Card and Save! Simply show your card when making your purchase and mention the Library Deals program.
