All About the Bards
Poets from the Pikes Peak region will join local musicians in A Tribute to Bob Dylan, performing works by the singer/songwriter as well as songs by Joan Baez and Woody Guthrie. Be part of the musical journey on Sunday, April 23 at 2:00 pm in the Atrium at Library 21C.
Celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday at the Auraria Library, April 24 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Start with a short film featuring clips of Shakespeare movie adaptations, then stay for a discussion of Shakespeare with Pompa Banajeree, Ph.D.
Family Fun
It’s Family Bingo Night at the Windsor-Severance Library on Saturday, April 22 at 6:00 pm. Bring a sack dinner; the library will provide snacks and prizes. This event is great for all ages, and no registration is required.
Anythink has a week’s worth of Earth Day events lined up from April 17 to 22. Recurring events like storytimes will have Earth Day themes, and there will be special events like a presentation on satellites from the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) and Severe Weather in Colorado with Meteorologist Chris Spears. Wilkinson Public Library wants to help parents learn about STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education and how it benefits their child. During the workshop on April 19 at 5:00 pm, parents will learn what STEAM is and how they can do fun STEAM activities at home. Dinner and childcare will be provided.
Libraries in the News
The Denver Post featured a story about the upcoming remodel of Columbine Library in Jefferson County. The $4 million dollar project will include a relocation of the library’s front entrance and a revamp of the children’s area.

What’s New at the Colorado State Library
We’re excited for the sixth year of One Book 4 Colorado. On Monday, April 17 the winning OB4CO title will be announced then distributed to all Colorado 4-year-olds. The book will be available at all public libraries, military libraries, and Denver Preschool Program classrooms from April 17 through May 1. Can you guess what the winning title will be? Stay tuned on April 17 to find out. Until then, watch this trailer from Governor John Hickenlooper.
New on Colorado Virtual Library:
- Read a short history of Women’s Suffrage, with links to related historic articles in the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection.

LRS released new Fast Facts highlighting results from the Colorado Talking Book Library patron satisfaction survey. 99% of patrons rated CTBL as “excellent or “good”; 70% of CTBL patrons say CTBL services allow them to continue reading after losing the ability to read standard print materials.
